The Great New York State Fair hosted its 2nd annual Miss New York State Fair pageant to choose ambassadors of the fair for the week and representatives for the year. Women of literally all ages were invited to come out and compete for the opportunity to represent serve as the Queen (or Princess) of the State Fair. There were also side awards given out, such as Photogenic, Miss Congeniality, Academic Excellence and Community Service.

Last year, the Miss New York State Fair winner was sponsored by Salt City Royalty and given the opportunity to attend and compete in the Miss New York pageant at-large. Hopefully, the pageant will become an official preliminary in the next year or two! But even though it is still not an official preliminary, the contestants knew that both the Miss and Teen titleholders would be given the opportunity to compete. Needless to say, the competition was intense.

All contestants competed in formal wear and on-stage question. In addition to the optional awards above, a separate Talent Award was available to contestants wishing to compete in this category as well. The ladies between the ages of 13 and 24 who sought the chance to compete at Miss New York were required to participate in the private interview and talent categories prior to the staged competition.
