This weekend marked the start 2nd annual Miss Buffalo Scholarship Competition under the new direction of Michael Terragnoli and Michael La Rocca. This local has one of the longest running history in the Miss New York pageant with many titleholders competing in Miss America and Miss New York (See the history HERE). The pressure was on for the women competing at the Buffalo State College Performing Arts Center Sunday February 28th.
Excerpt taken from Miss Buffalo MAO review by Sarah Soltish. Read more about her personal experience on her blog.
The 15 contestants competed in Interview the day before, then returned on Sunday to compete on stage in talent, swimsuit, evening gown, and on-stage question. Former Miss New York and Miss America titleholders were guests of honor, serving as co-emcees and judges. Miss America 1993 even helped CJ McDermott, Miss Buffalo’s Outstanding Teen, crown the winner. (Unfortunately Desiree Wiley was unable to attend the event.)
Check back at the predictions from last week- we got 4/5! Predictions are just for fun, and there is no way of knowing who will go home with the crown, but it’s still neat when we get them right. We have no secret information or insider knowledge about any of the contestants and base them completely on past pageants and public information (have you ever Googled your name?). We never know if our predictions will be accurate, since we have no idea what the judges are looking for. Plus, veterans have “bad days” and first timers have yet to show us their stuff.
